Viewing the Images
The facsimile images may be viewed with the understanding that they have been made available by the owners and/or copyright holder for the purposes of “fair use” and private personal use only.

Copying and Using the Images for Personal Use
Images may be downloaded to the user's workstation (plus one user-owned laptop) and stored there; one hard copy only may be made without special permission from or remuneration to the copyright holder, provided this is done solely for educational purposes. Any copy, in electronic or other form, must include the copyright notice as found at the edge of each image. The image may not be duplicated in any form for another person or organization. If an image is required for separate viewing elsewhere, the colleague(s) or student(s) should be referred to this website, where it can be viewed and downloaded afresh by each individual user.
The user is allowed to show the single hard personal copy to colleagues for private discussion, in electronic form it may be displayed only on the screen of the user's single workstation (& laptop) where the image is stored. Under “Fair Use”, the user is also permitted to display the single personal copy for purposes of a scholastic lecture, provided that no further duplication occurs or is allowed to occur.
The URL, but not the image itself, may be incorporated in a user's personal hypertext document. The purpose of any restriction on the use of these images is to ensure that the images are always downloaded unaltered directly from the illuminated-books.com and the libros-iluminados.com servers and not from an unauthorized source.
Images downloaded from our servers have not been compressed and are, generally, not of the very high resolutions as sought for highly professional print publications. This is not significant for most researchers, but may be unacceptable for specific applications, like full-sized, superior quality printing of color facsimiles. In such cases it may be possible for the copyright holder to supply, for a fee, higher resolution uncompressed files.

Other Uses of the Images
Specific written permission from illuminated-manuscripts.com, who reserves the right to charge a fee, is required for any other use. Permission is required for uses that include, but are not limit to, the following:
· Publication in any form.
· Publication of an image in any electronic form, whether modified or not.
· Public display in any form (except as indicated above).
· Use in television, film or video.
· Duplication or distribution of an image in any network or public site, or in any digital or virtual library.
· Duplication for use in any educational package.
